Anthony’s Man Cave is pretty much there, despite the rain today
Glazed and adjusted French windows. Completed front. Dry inside. There is some internal finishings being done this Friday, but it is a pleasing sight with an informal opening celebration at Halloween.

Great thanks to Mick, Dave and Kevin as the main drivers but with important other bit players at times!
We have a pre-loved display unit arriving for the back wall.
The Horse, The Dog and The Pigeon
Will be carted shortly to the Cricket Pavilion ready for adding to the existing stored Remembrance Service displays
These projects of big scale (Man Cave and Horse) have been an inspirational element at the Shed. We have learnt about the dream Dave Geldart has for November 2024. All will be ultimately revealed Advice is to stand clear.
Whitby Colin in the Care Home (aka Big Col) arrived at Norton Shed today
By the magic of the internet and WhatsApp. We have broadband connection by a roundabout route that we hope will be able to be more direct shortly.
We now have a second bigger monitor courtesy of new Shedder Brian (Brian 2 if we give them numbers) and we aim to have one monitor able to be swung down in front of the serving hatch for more central viewing whilst not permanently blocking the view of boatbuilder Walter. We like to know what he’s up to.
This capability will add further dimensions to what the Shed can both do in activities as well as allowing others to “pop over” for a chat!
We are nearly out of postcards so we’ve ordered more but added a new sister project Norton Doing Place for 2024
It’s another dream but the dreams we’ve had for 2023have had the habit of coming to pass. Largely because the Shedders have risen to some purposeful and meaningful challenges.
So Norton Doing Place is coming out from under the covers of discussion and ongoing planning. There are loose ends – as there ever are in new project initiatives – but at some time or another there always needs to be a bit of a leap of faith into the unknown!

The new Constitution for Norton Men’s Shed was approved at last nights Special General Meeting
We can now proceed to submit it with other administrative information to the Charity Commission in the next week or so.
Kevin Goldsbrough (Cavalry Kevin) was appointed to join the current 5 trustees of Norton Men’s Shed.
Another collaborative opportunity
Norton 1st Scouts have a great site with some woodland as part of it. One area is used for various kinds of woodcraft activity and they want a structure (a kind of pagoda) providing a bit of shelter and somewhere to sit. One of our Trustees, Kevin, is part of the Scouting Leadership (he does Beavers!). Graham offered to help (and any other Shedders are welcome to join in) plus a well known guy in Norton called Frank.
Delayed by the recent wet weather, Frank and a mate made a good start on Friday afternoon. Many of the timbers seen are temporary and just holding initial main elements (mainly the posts) in position.
If you want to help give Graham a call on 07763 656627.
