Covid-19 Not Easily Dismissed

Times have been very unsettling for some Shedders in some Sheds.  Handling the roller coaster of the pandemic. The necessity of isolation to shield or to prevent spread. It runs counter to the way of working of Sheds and what as Shedders we appreciate in the companionship and banter .

The Whitby district Sheds closed for more than a year, although phone, media and video helped many Shedders (and Sheds) stay in touch. The Sheds have come back well and, whilst some Shedders had to be very cautious, they were very balanced in their reactions and wanting to stay in touch.

However, that was not universal and some of the 600+ Sheds in UK experienced disquiet and agitation for a while  following Sheds reopening in July 2021. To mask or not to mask was sometimes an issue.

Hearing some accounts of feelings, the UK Men’s Shed Association have offered some thought provoking, Shed-like posters at the turn of the year.

UKMSA sends seasonal greetings and best wishes to all Sheds.

It is not easy for an Association to react to different concerns in what are independent groups. These posters are worth reflecting on and particularly maybe the third poster. It shows how important mind-set, tolerance and balance are.
