Nothing to do with trains, though, unless it is trains of thought!
We are pleased to announce plans for a new Shed. The Norton Plastic Shed!
It will be part of Norton Men’s Shed and have a place to call home there, but most of the action will be online where people are. At home and away (from the Shed!).
With 3D printing and design there is only house dust! Designing is free and a 3D printer is not necessary because one will be available via the internet.
The Plastic Shed will simmer over the summer and launch in September.
Here is a taster for the model railway.
It’s all (W) Heath Robinson

William Heath Robinson was an English cartoonist, illustrator and artist who drew whimsically elaborate machines to achieve simple objectives. The earliest citation in the Oxford English Dictionary for the use of “Heath Robinson” as a noun describing any unnecessarily complex and implausible contrivance is from 1917. W Heath Robinson died at age 72 in 1944.

Down Another Track
In the previous post the opportunity was described for a digital inclusuion project involving ourselves and Whitby Shed. Digital inclusion should take account not only of the technology (which comes in a standard box) but of the circumstances of individuals needing to use it. There is some commonality amongst those who do Shedding but also for those who cannot Shed any more. The latter are to one degree or another isolated. Learning about technology use on your own from a leaflet, through YouTube or in a class of strangers is not easy and requires a bit of bravery to tackle a few barriers!
Being As One is a prototype to learn how best to provide a skills uplift from basic use to how it can/will help day to day.
The first cohort (group) of participants will be people from the two Sheds who already know (or know of) others who will be involved. This is because those leading the combined project (Aidan, Paul and Graham) need to learn themselves. Telling others how to do something always highlights that we know what to do (like driving a car) but have a habit of forgetting how we learnt in the forst place.
For Norton we would like say 4 Shedders and 2 or 3 non-Shedders who would benefit from some hands on help. If you know anybody, please do speak to Paul or Graham. People who have a real need to learn to help change their circumstances a little in the day to day.
The Plastic Shed will play a part in this too.

Something to ponder on. It’s how YOU feel about what you do.
