Turning out very well indeed

Yes, the pun is all about the lathes!

Chris has pushed on in his woodturning exploits from eggs to now a platter under the guidance of tutor mentor Dennis. It’s a win win as Chris learns (joined today by Ray going to work on his egg) and Dennis gets a kick out of sharing his skills with others.

Chris’ platter. Soon to be bees-waxed

Ray on his first piece.

How satisfying is that!

Work started on a bench for the Stables as Brian continued with another hedgehog house. Kim also arrived with news that the hedgehog house she had made at the Shed and installed in her garden now has a resident living there!

Wheelchair Steve sent a testimony about what the Shed has meant to him

One of Steve’s pieces. He works from his wheelchair but also from the floor!

“I’ve been going to the Shed for some months now. I enjoy it very much and it has inspired me to do things at home. I’ve made Xmas trees and planters out of pallets and lots of other ornaments for my garden.

It’s been such a help with my mental health; before I was very down and in a dark place. Thanks to the Shed I’m now slowly getting my life back so I would like to thank Graham for  helping me join with  the Shed family [and the Shed for installing the wheelchair lift].

I go there every Monday [when the group mainly chats] and it’s been a massive help for me. Thanks guys.”

Not forgetting the cameraman!

Norton Sports Liam came in to use the band saw. He wants to carve a dog’s head from lime wood and needed to trim away some of the waste wood.  The band saw cut it extremely well and Liam’s advice was never to force wood through but to let the blade do it’s job of cutting!
